A POLICE officer has been injured after she was hit by a speeding car while directing cars into a random breath test station.
It is understood the officer received minor injuries in the incident while the driver was arrested after crashing into a tree while being pursued by police.
The officer was part of a driver alcohol testing station on Old Port Rd at West Lakes at about 7.30pm when the driver of a white Hyundai sedan refused to stop, striking her with his car before driving through the roadblock.
Patrols pursued the vehicle on to Bower Rd, left on to Fairford Terrace, right on to Bartley Terrace and then left on to West Lakes Boulevard where it continued until the driver crashed into a tree near Morely Rd.
The 22-year-old male driver from Glanville, who was not inured in the crash, was arrested and in the hours after the incident was being interviewed by police.
He is expected to be charged with a number of offences.
A woman who was a passenger in the car at the time was not arrested.
The officer was treated by paramedics at the scene.
